The Hosokawa Alpine AFG fluidized bed opposed classifier jet mill is
perfect for the super fine grinding of different dry materials with a
precise control over the particle´s top cut thanks to its integrated
classifier wheel design, using the Hosokawa Alpine Turboplex
classifier head ATP. This micronizer can be used to pulverize
different coarse products to finer powders and within different
industries where micronization might be needed, such as minerals,
chemicals, food, pharma, cosmetic, etc.
This grinder is able to process hard coarse products up to approx. 10
Mohs´ hardness without much wear and reaching an extremely high
end-product fineness values between d97 4 to 100 microns top size
(product dependent) at the lowest possible energy consumption. The
comminution takes place in the bottom part of the grinding chamber
where the nozzles inject compressed gas at high pressure onto the
fluidized bed full of feed material and the resulting jet projects the
particles against each other breaking them thus reducing their side.
The comminution takes place in the center of the chamber far from the
mill housing, hence resulting in extreme low wear within the grinding
chamber turning this mill optimal for abrasive materials or those that
require very low contamination in the final product. Within the same
chamber, the air circulation brings the fines to the rotating
classifier wheel where oversize grains are rejected to then return to
the grinding zone for reprocessing, whereas the fine particles make it
through the classification step to the next stage, normally the
filter. Sometimes a cyclone is installed between the mill and filter
or even a secondary air classifier or cyclone-classifier. Thanks to
the great required process air volume, very limited temperature
increase during grinding is to be expected compared to other
granulation and crushing technologies. Adjusting the final particle
size distribution can be easily done by changing different parameters,
such as the compressed gas pressure, grinding nozzle diameter or its
design and the classifier H5157533 wheel speed, air volume, filling
level and feeding rate, etc.
