High speed 5 axes CNC machinning center CMS Concept 40/155/25 PX5 was
built in Italy in 2020. CNC gantry milling machine characterised by
outstanding robustness and reliability, is designed for precision
milling, drilling and 3D machining of parts made of materials such as
sand, epoxy and phenolic resin, carbon fibre, fibreglass and
aluminium. Dimensioning of workpiece structures is performed by an
advanced calculation programme based on the finite element method
(FEM), ensuring high geometric accuracy and reliability, even under
heavy workloads.
Applicable to a variety of industries, the machining centre for
composites and aluminium, features a mobile bridge with a PX5 5-axis
workhead running on two electrically welded rigid guideways. All five
interpolated axes of the head (X,Y,Z,C,A), are equipped with
high-performance servomotors and pneumatic brakes. The high-speed
electro-spindle, operating at a speed of 24000 rpm, significantly
reduces machining times and guarantees rapid tool changes, thanks to
the automatic tool changer used in the workhead.
All moving mechanisms, driven by powerful motors, have been perfectly
optimised to obtain the highest possible speeds and accelerations.
Thanks to its special design, the CMS 5-axis gantry milling machine
maintains a stable temperature throughout the entire milling period,
resulting in high thermal stability for all moving machine parts. The
machining centre’s easily accessible work area allows fast and
simple loading of the workpieces to be machined.
The prototype milling centre has a wide range of equipment, including
a 21.5″ CMS ACTIVE touch-screen HMI panel with a installed FANUC
31i-B5 CNC controller and a RENISHAW RMP60 measuring probe.
